Every Trane air conditioner is rigorously tested for reliability and durability. They design, build, test, and even rebuild some of their own parts. Trane products are put through a 16 week couse of cold and heat in repeating two-week sessions. Some units endure over 2,600 hours of continuous testing, including a full week of salt spray to monitor corrosion resistance! They put their products through the ringer, so when you get your trane air conditioner, you won’t have an issues.

We aren’t the only one who thinks Trane Air Conditioners are great. Popular Mechanics called the Trane ComfortLink™ II control as one of The Year’s Most Transformative Products, awarding it their 2010 Breakthrough Award. That being said, did you know that there are Trane products in some of the most famous places around the world? These tourist attractions need a reliable cooling system just like homeowners. A few places that have Tranes include:

Statue of Liberty

La Scala Theatre in Milan, Italy

Olympic Sports Complex in Athens

Kremlin in Moscow, Russia

Dogs always seem to appear when we are performing a repair on air conditioning outdoor units. Recently, the same thing happened while installing a air conditioner in Midlothian off 145th and Pulaski Rd. The boxer just came upon us, and when we realized this fact, we nearly jumped out of our skin. The good thing is that the dog was friendly. I have a picture of the customer and his dog as well as Salvatore on his first installation of a central air conditioning system complete with the copper line set and evaporator coil. The kid is a natural hvac specialist!

Salvatore`s first Westinghouse air conditioner installation.

This Picture depicts Midlothian a/c or central air conditioning installation. The next picture shows the home owner and Salvatore. The home owner and Salvatore hit it off, and my customer was pleased with the price of the air conditioning installation as well as the look and performance of the air conditioner.

The Westinghouse warranty is ten years with a quality pledge. If the compressor fails in ten years, Westinghouse will pay my rate to install a new condenser for you. It is a great deal!

Customer And Boxer Thanking Salvatore For A Job Well Done!

Installations of either furnaces, boilers or central air conditioning requires more than just installing the equipment. There are step by step start up procedures that have to be performed for a proper and quality installation of the equipment. Many of the air conditioning systems repairs we make (especially when they are new) are faulty start up procedures. The other problem with air conditioning systems we routinely run into is either dirty condenser coils or furnace/air handler filters or both. Air conditioning clean ups and checks can save you money. Air conditioning tuneups also can tell us if the evaporator coil is dirty by checking the air conditioners freon gas pressures. Dirty evaporator coils cause many problems, the worst of them are poor indoor air quality.

Do you have a great air conditioning installation story?

When did people start using cool air for comfort?

Thousands of years ago, the wealthiest of the Romans used aqueducts that ran cool water from the springs, wells and rivers through their walls of the structure to keep them cool. Today, we call that chillers (and it is almost the same principle). Refrigeration was then introduced to us in 1902 by the way of electrical mechanical cooling (more for manufacturing purposes). We definitely give thanks to Willis Carrier for bringing us cooling. However, in the 1940s only the wealthiest could afford a residential systems. It was not until the early 1950s that central air conditioning systems would become more moderately priced. As time went on, central air conditioning became a household item, and a must have item on most people’s want list.

How does air conditioning work and what are the components that make up my air conditioning system?

Image via Wikipedia

Central air conditioning is basically a humidity removal tool. That is the first process on the starting up of your air conditioning system. It is also a repeating cycle that never changes unless maintenance is not performed on the equipment. Items needed for air conditioning are: refrigerant (now its freon 22 ), refrigerant carrying supply lines (line sets), an evaporator coil with a fixed metering device an outdoor unit to expel heat (heat pumps or condenser), and of course, a furnace or air handler.

Other key important parts of your central air conditioning system is the compressor, the condenser fan motor, and the contactor(s) and start capacitor. This boosts capacitance on start up for the compressor and runs capacitor aids in the running of the compressor.

How can I troubleshoot my air conditioning system?

When the multi capacitor fails, its a good indication that the compressor is on its last leg, but not always. Sometimes a heavy concentration of dirt build upon the condenser coils (which is the outside unit) creates these problems. The condenser fan motor (which is that fan you see spinning on top of you out side unit) cannot pull the air through the dirty coils. That is why HVAC contractors always remind you to service your a/c system annually. There are also problems such as power supply from your local electrical company that can cause capacitance problems like power loss. Central air conditioning requires 220 to 240 volts to operate properly, and we have seen in the field that the power feed was 180 volts and less. The unit may run but at a weak performance level, and this can cause serious problems to the compressor (especially during peak cooling season when everyone is running their air conditioning).

Now, if you have a forest around your outdoor condenser, please cut it down or trim it so air can flow. If your outdoor unit is under your deck with no room for it to breath, have an HVAC contractor come out to move it.

Understanding your air conditioner (how it works and how to fix it) is the first step to optimizing your heating and cooling systems in your home!

Furnace not working correctly this summer

Have you noticed that your furnace has not been working correctly this summer? Are some of the signs which makes you think the furnace is not working correctly as follows; you notice in the summer that your furnace runs longer and makes unusual noises that you normally don’t hear. The answer to that could be as follows; your furnace filter may be dirty or clogged, your freon levels are low, your evaporator coil could be dirty or clogged and some ice is forming and dripping down the inside of your furnace making the noise, the blower motor squirrel cage fins may be dirty or clogged causing whining of the wheel while the blower motor is running in a/c mode.

During the storms this past summer have you heard pinging noises? That can be the rain hitting the venting on the roof which travels down to ear shot or you can be missing a chimney cap and that should be looked at right away before water damage and mold can occur.
Other issues with the furnace not working correctly this summer can be loose debris in the blower compartment of your furnace which can be banging around making unusual noises.

Another thing people over look during the storms this summer is, if you had water penetration in your basement and it got high, but according to you, not high enough to damage the furnace, So therefore it is a good possibility that water got trapped in the bottom of the blower motor housing and is sloshing around making noises and over taxing the blower motor it is easy to overlook this.

The thing about furnaces and water they do not mix, like oil and water. With the modern technologies of today the furnace electronics are not impervious to water, not yet anyhow. All the above statements lend itself to the importance of a furnace tune up or maintenance check.

When you hear strange noises when your furnace is running along with the a/c or the furnace by itself that’s your sign that it’s time to call Around the Town Heating and cooling for a maintenance check, prolonging that call could be costly. 708-388-2247 or 312-243-9896

Reputable Hvac Company

Throughout history, many people, from all parts of the world, sought that highly praised quality- a reputation. People greatly value reputation. Reputation has been sought after since the ancient Greeks and Romans.
It is since everywhere, from the small children on the playground to the CEOs of powerful companies. Reputation is a trait that people want. Having a good “rep” is a quality that people strive to achieve; by default, if your reputation is solid and very respectable, it will attract people to you.

People spend their entire lives trying to build a good reputation; some people find it rather hard to obtain. However, it is quite easy; have respect; act like a mature adult; know when to have fun and when to work; moreover, be a “man.” Plainly, people appreciate reputation- well, of course.

Have you ever accused a person of doing something awful that would destroy his or her reputation? People do not take kindly to another slandering their good name. People really care about their reputation because it tells who they are without really knowing them.

Good reputations benefit people because it allows them to prosper; most people would rather do business with a company with a good “rep” than a bad “rep.” In business, a good reputation is sought after like the goose who laid the golden egg. Customers do not want services from a heating and air conditioning company that has a terrible HVAC reputation.

At Around the Town Heating and Cooling we always aim to please our customers, although at times it seems to be a tenuous task, we do have good intentions in the work we perform. Pricing has a direct bearing on customers that review us as having a good rep or a bad rep. Unfortunately, we do not control all aspects of pricing and we, as a contractor, do try to achieve our 30% to keep the doors of our business open.

Some companies out there in the hvac industry have Ferraris and Lamborghinis and summers home and so on. We on the otherhand earn a living that keeps food on our tables and pay our bills; we feel comfortable doing so. Some customers consider our prices costly; however, in the long run, it is really cheaper. Thank you for giving your business to Around the Town Heating and Cooling. We are grateful!
In need of quality and reputable hvac services? Call today to schedule an appointment 312-243-9896 or 708-388-2247.

heating air conditioning contractor/flooded basement
Have you experienced fooding due to the storms of late? If so we here at Around The Town Heating and Air conditioning are available to assist you, whether a repair or replacement of your furnace or boiler is needed or a quote for the insurance company. We are established and are willing to do what ever it takes to assist you. Call 312-243-9896. Read on.

Heating and air conditioning companies need certain qualities to become well-established companies. Some of these qualities include honesty, well-rounded service, and expertise; however, one part that needs improvement from every company is customer service.

The importance of customer service in a heating and air conditioning company exceeds exponentially. Heating and air conditioning companies should recognize that the customer gives the companies the work. Without the customers, a heating and air conditioning company would flat-line- goes out of business. This does not mean that the customer dictates the price for an air conditioner, furnace, or a boiler. However, the company should take the time to show appreciation to the customer who just bought that new air conditioner or apartment owner who gave the company work. Around the Town Heating and Cooling does appreciate the customer and knows about the current economic cluster bubble.

Furthermore, a company needs to guarantee additional service to repair or fix a furnace or air conditioner that malfunctioned after being installed. Many companies leave the customer waiting for hours, days at a time. Some times the wait is unavoidable however It is the company’s responsibility to make that air conditioner, furnace, or boiler function properly. Around the Town Heating and Cooling prioritizes the customer and its service first.

At Around The Town hvac we do just that, we provide sound heating and air conditioning systems as well as bringing comfort to you. Call 708-388-2247 or 312-243-9896.

a/c repair pricing 312-243-9896

What are you willing to pay for goods or services? Air conditioning and heating services.

Are you willing to sacrifice a higher quality service for a lesser payment? That is what the new trend seems to be like nowadays. We no that the times of today are dictating this but; It is an age-old debate between services and payments.

To get things straight, the price is the price. I’m not saying this to sound like money-hungry business person; there is always a reason for a price, no matter retail, wholesale, etc.

The lower price does not make it the right or better deal. Warnings should trigger in your head when dealing with low prices (compared within the given business field). Lower prices bring many shortcomings to the table.

The price might be lower for a reason; the quality of the work may be substandard; the low price hooks customers into an entangling contract or agreement; there is a lack in effort or productivity.

Not all people are jerks; not all business people are trying to pull the wool over your eyes. The price entails many things; the company’s price that may seem expensive should not sway you to go with a cheaper company.

There is a reason! Could the quality be better; it is a good possibility that the service will last longer or run better than it ever had. For example, an a/c service check that may be more expensive than another company’s does not mean that they are trying to squeeze you of money.

In fact, the truth is the service is better; the technicians are more qualified. The price is meant to be what it is. If you want quality work, expect higher prices. If you want a low price, the quality of the work will always sub-par. Hypothetical aside, the price determines the quality. In the hvac field many times the lower the price, the less the value.

Be dilagent when shopping prices and ask a lot of questions when price is an issue. Ask about sales pricing, you may be suprised what you hear, many hvac companies have sales pricing on service work as well as installations, ask about coupons.
